Feels Academia

2021

Feels Academia was my final, 8-week long academic project for Falmouth University and was developed for the Creative Conscience brief: whose task was to create a design meant to improve people's mental wellbeing.

This 8-week project consisted of researching issues and trends when it came to mental health, media, and audience preferences, and utilizing all of the findings to create a tool meant to help solve found issues. Due to my background in games, and due to the findings of my research, I decided to design a game.

The game utilizes simple mechanics to tell a story that the user can interact with to relax but also includes coping lessons such as breathing exercises, real-life tasks utilizing these lessons to push the user to use them, and helplines depending on the user's location, and more.

As a way to ensure the project worked well and fit my audience, I have established an active feedback loop during it, where I got my target audience, and those outside of it, to interact with the design and give me feedback on anything from aesthetics, layouts, mechanics, etc.

This project required me to take the role of a graphic designer, researcher, games designer, game artist, UI and UX designer, and more, and in the end, I am really proud of it.
